We have been providing technical assistance to the Energy Regulatory Office in their efforts to issue credible, EECS-compliant and internationally-recognized Guarantees of Origin by joining the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB).
As part of this support, we assisted ERO to draft the Rule on Guarantees of Origin, ensuring full alignment with the AIB’s European Energy Certificate System (EECS) Rules and with national legislation. The Rule establishes the procedures for issuing, transferring, and cancelling Guarantees of Origin for electricity generated from renewable sources in Kosovo.
The AIB Board has now approved ERO’s membership application, recognizing ERO as the designated Issuing Body for Guarantees of Origin (GOs) for the Republic of Kosovo, marking an important step in aligning Kosovo’s Guarantees of Origin certification with European standards.
This technical assistance was supported by the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and implemented by LuxDev under the Energy Transition and Climate Mitigation project.
